The new iOS 5.1 features: What's New and What's Hidden

Immediately after the iPad 3 release on March 8th, the new version of iOS was released immediately for free download on iTunes and the beta version expired on 31 January 2012.

Lets discuss some new features that are provided in the new iOS which is the iOS 5.1.

Many articeles on the interent discussed the iOS 5.1 on iPhone 4s and iPad.\ and nobody was talking about the iOS 5.1 on ipod touch so i thought I would talk about the iPod touch iOS 5.1 features and leave iPhone and iPads out of it. Although they will be discussed later (see the link below)

The First noticeable feature is that i found was that when i first loaded and started using my iPod touch 4g after I installed iOS 5.1 is that it worked lot faster. It also seemed much mroe stable than the previous iOS 5 where I my apps would shut down anytime and also the interface became a little jerky which was annoying a little bit.

The most popular app that faced crash problems was the IMDB app (there might be various other apps that crashed but out of all the apps i installed, IMDB was worst.)

The most common observable feature is that the lock screen has a little camera icon on the bottom right corner next to the slide panel. You could just slide the lock screen up by touching that icon and the camera app starts. You can take snap and again slide down for the lock screen to reappear. Also I have come to know that there have been some changes in the camera quality (I do not know if it is a rumor or truth), but I honestly didn't find anything different on it.

Well ...folks these are the two observable features in the new iOS 5.1, however there are a few more features  for the iphone 4s which will be discussed later and there are a few hidden features also for the iOS 5.1 on ipod touches.

ASISTIVE TOUCH : THIS IS AN AMAZING IPOD FEATURE THAT FEATURES IN ALL THE iOS5 DEVICES. THE THING IS THAT MOST OF THE TIME WE KEEP PRESSING THE HOME BUTTON ON OUR IPHONE OR AN IPOD AND AFTER SOMETIME THE BUTTON IS RENDERED UNRESPONSIVE OR BROKEN. THIS IS ACTUALLY A DRAWBACK FROM THE APPLE'S SIDE YOU KNOW BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO EXIT OR CLOSE AN APPLICATION FROM WITHIN, YOU HAVE TO COME OUT BY PRESSING THE HOME BUTTON AND THEN PRESS HOME BUTTON TWICE DO SEE THE RUNNING APPS AND THEN CLOSE THEN INDIVIDUALLY. SO FOR EVERY APP YOU OPEN MEANS YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PRESS THE HOME BUTTON 3 TIMES TO CLOSE THE APP. NO WONDER WHY YOUR HOME BUTTON LOSES OUT AFTER SOMETIME.

SO WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS A SOFT VERSION OF THE HOME BUTTON WHICH CONTINOUSLY APPEARS ON YOUR SCREEN WHILE YOU ARE USING YOUR IPOD, WHETHER IT IS MUSIC OR GAME OR CHECKING YOUR EMAILS. BY TAPPING THAT ICON ON THE SCREEN YOU CAN USE IT TO CLOSE ALL YOUR APPS WITHOUT EVEN  TOUCHING YOUR REAL HOME BUTTON.

SO TECHNICALLY OUT OF ALL THE TIMES THAT YOU PRESS THE HOME BUTTON FOR  YOUR IPOD FOR ANYTHING, YOU REDUCE THE FREQUENCY OF PRESSING THE HOME BUTTON UP TO 75% BY USING ASSISTIVE TOUCH.

The chrome book: Excited!!!!

Google is launching its new OS and have introduced its first computer called "chromebook" which is likely to be released on June 15th. The chromebook is supposed to boot within seconds and is supposed to be 10times faster then windows and mac.

Google has claimed to manage all your files and data on the internet. google believes that since most of the computer users spend their comouting time on the internet instead of their desktops. it is the time to take everything on the internet and nothing on the desktop. You can work on all your applications on the web and even store them. this removes the headache of storing the files locally or getting it infected by the virus. this removes the necessity of installing utility files and running softwares on the desktop. this also eliminates the storage barrier.

Believe me or not...Google has come up with an amazing new concept.



Also Google has a good reputation of excellent implementation capability and therefore I have very little concern of whether it will actually benefit the users or not because it will.

Transfer files between computers without Pendrives!

 Transfer files without a pendrive 2shared is a free service website which allows you to upload any files on their server and download it and access it whenever you want..
Its like a cloud computing service which lets you store all your large files on the web server instead of desktop. This concept may sound a bit dull but has got a lot of potential. It is so potentially useful that it can eliminate the need for pendrives.

Web Store : Google Rules

Webstore is one of the major changes and upgradation for all google users. If you have google chrome as a web browser on your desktop, the latest upgradation on chrome which is web store. there are some amazing apps on google some of which are actually free. it is sometimes very easy to identify how efficient these small free apps make your daily job easy. Things like image editing, wiki searching, tweeting is all made so fast that you dont have to even leave your current page in the process.

The apps on google chrome are classified based on their category. The top free apps and paid apps are displayd on the top and on the side bar respectively.

Some of the chrome apps that I found facinated are

Picnik:

A cool image editing software that allows you to do some effective and elegant editing making it easier and faster to save, upload on the website.

Scribe Fire:

One of the fastest way of blogging. you can create your blog post edit it and upload it directly on your blog without logging into your account. Infact I have uploaded this post from scribe fire only.

Twitter Bar:

As the name suggests you can easily tweet instsntly which can be called instant tweeting. To sue this app the icon appears on the top right crne rof your chrome screen.

Wikipedia Companion:

How many of us can live without wikipedia. How often do we require to go to wikipedia for a topic? this app opens a small screen right below the address bar in the upper right corner and lets you surf wikipedia directly. A true boon to those hardcore web diggers.

Windows 7 phone: My point of view

The first look at the windows phone 7 looked like a Microsoft's in for a major competition with the "interface king" the mighty apple of course. Since the launch of windows 7 phone in the market. People have been uploading articles and videos on the new phone's reviews and features and so on. But to see whether windows 7 is really a tough competition or not we need a systematic analysis of the points to be considered.

4 Reasons why Apps store a huge sucess ?

Apps store apart from any body's notice has been tremendously successful. Such a huge sucess that wasn't expected by apple itself.

In august apps store hit 1000000 apps on the apps store and in the august Steve jobs declared a billion download milestone

So What is that which has made apps store a huge success which has now started to pour more than $90 million a day into apple's pocket.
